Botox
Botox is one of the most sought after anti-aging injectable procedures for people who want to get rid of facial lines and minor wrinkles to restore a youthful look.
Although Botox does not need much introduction for even new patients, but the treatment provider will take the time to explain the pros and cons of Botox in comparison to other treatment options to help the patient make the best decision.
The patient should feel free to ask questions and clear any doubts and concerns about the Botox treatment or the provider’s office. A proactive approach to the consultation will allow the patient to have full clarity and feel more confident about their choice. Dr. Q medical spa, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Suzanne Quardt, provides Botox injections to patients in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and surrounding communities and cities across the horizon.
Understanding the Patient’s Needs
The treatment provider will first seek to understand the reasons why the patient wants to have Botox injections, and what precisely about their facial appearance may be making them unhappy. The consultation process will enable the provider to determine the patient’s innate cosmetic needs and goals, and recommend the most appropriate solutions or a customized Botox injection plan.
Some patients may be looking to achieve a subtle lift to the sagging facial skin, or having a need to fill deeper creases in the face. In such cases, Botox may have to be combined with dermal filler injections to address the patient’s unique requirements. The provider will educate the patient about the sustainability of Botox results and describe the facial areas where it can be most effective.
Keeping Realistic Expectations
Botox is a completely non-surgical procedure with near-instant results and minimal discomfort and downtime. However, the downside is that the results are sustainable only for a temporary period of three to four months. Secondly, Botox can only be effective in treating wrinkles formed by dynamic facial muscles. It cannot volumize the thinning skin in the mid-face or other areas.
A dedicated Botox provider will use the consultation opportunity to explain the limitations of Botox and help the patient form realistic expectations. They may also present Botox before and after images during the consultation. Some providers may show testimonials of past patients to give more insights about Botox to the patient from the perspective of other patients.
Determining Candidacy
Botox injections are not for everyone. The provider will assess the patient’s candidacy by examining their degree of skin laxity in the face, droopiness around the eyelids, and weakness in the forehead muscles. If the patient has received injections of Botox or one of its variants in the last six months, the provider may advise them to wait for a certain period before going ahead with a repeat treatment.
Recovery Instructions
The patient will be advised to refrain from rubbing or massaging the injection site for at least 12 hours after Botox treatment. They should also avoid lying down for about four hours after the treatment. Dr. Q med spa receives patients from Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and nearby areas for Botox.
