Restylane and Perlane

Restylane and Perlane hail from the same family of dermal fillers. These fillers restore a natural moisturizer in the body known as hyaluronic acid (HA) that offers the skin a youthful fullness. 

In particular, Restylane and Perlane add fullness to correct the appearance of moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles, including lines at the mouth corners, lipstick lines, smile lines and laugh lines (nasolabial lines), and “marionette” lines.

Restylane is appropriate for folds and wrinkles that occur from the mid to deep dermal skin layer. On the other hand, Perlane uses larger particles to reach deeper sources. Both fillers offer immediate results with little to no downtime. 

Most people who undergo Restylane treatment continue to enjoy smoother folds and lines for up to 18 months while most individuals who receive Perlane treatment experience improvements for six months. The patient may choose to undergo touch-up treatments to help extend the benefits of these dermal fillers. 

Restylane and Perlane comprise of safe materials that the body slowly disintegrates and reabsorbs. 

Juvederm

Juvederm is a smooth gel filler that can eliminate wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Similar to Restylane and Perlane, Juvederm works by augmenting the body’s natural reservoir of HA. 

This filler is injected into the dermal layer of the skin to correct marionette lines around or below the mouth corners, correct vertical lip lines, and address smile lines that appear as parentheses around the month. The outcomes of a single treatment can sustain for one year. 

Hylaform and Hylaform Plus

Hylaform and Hylaform Plus are HA-based dermal fillers that also restore the skin’s youthful fullness to minimize moderate to severe facial lines and folds and to enhance the contours. The outcomes are instantaneous. 

Radiesse

Collagen loss due to aging can cause wrinkles, folds, and sagging skin. Radiesse restores collagen in the skin to add volume and smooth out aging-related folds and wrinkles. 

It can soften the appearance of nasolabial folds (smile lines), “marionette” lines, wrinkles at the mouth corners (oral commissure), and sagginess at the sides of the chin (“pre-jowl”) for up to one year after a single treatment. Additionally, Radiesse encourages the production of natural collagen to extend the outcomes even longer. 

Sculptra Aesthetic

Similar to Radiesse, Sculptra Aesthetic works by replenishing lost collagen to restore youthful fullness to the face. However, Sculptra itself does not contain collagen. It comprises a synthetic substance known as poly-L-lactic acid that has been used safely for years in materials such as dissolvable stitches. 

Upon being injected into the deep dermis, Sculptra can treat deep facial lines and folds, including nasolabial folds, “marionette” lines and chin wrinkles. The results appear gradually as collagen production increases. A complete Sculptra Aesthetic treatment (around three injections over a few months) can create outcomes that sustain up to two years.
