How PicoWay Tattoo Removal Works
The PicoWay laser can eliminate tattoos in only one to three treatment sessions, unlike various Q-switched lasers that typically necessitate 10 to 15 sessions to remove a tattoo. Darker colors that are typically resistant to any type of tattoo removal procedures can be efficiently removed with the PicoWay picosecond laser.
PicoWay effectively combines the 532 nm (KTP) and 1,064 nm Nd:YAG wavelengths to remove all colors of tattoo ink, including black and red which are usually challenging to remove.
The laser has dual frequencies that are meant to treat different ink colors. This allows the treatment to be fully customized depending on the type of tattoo to be eliminated.

Treatment Sessions
The treatment provider can schedule tattoo removal over multiple sessions to make sure that the laser procedure is more efficient and relatively comfortable. One treatment session typically lasts for under 30 minutes and depends on the size and number of tattoos.
The type and amount of ink used and the depth at which it was deposited will determine the number of treatment sessions necessary to remove the tattoo.
Minimizing Discomfort
A qualified and experienced treatment provider will use some basic techniques to minimize the patient’s discomfort during a tattoo removal session.
The laser provider may ask the patient to take Tylenol or another non-aspirin medicine before the treatment session. These pain meds do not aggravate post-treatment bruising.
Related to this, the provider may apply a prescription anesthetic cream or lotion to numb the area before the treatment. The anesthetic will remain on the treatment site for nearly two hours before the laser session and will be taken off before the tattoo removal procedure commences.
