CoolSculpting Recovery Time

CoolSculpting Recovery TimeOne of the key factors that has made CoolSculpting one of the leading treatments for body contouring is that the procedure is completely non-surgical and technically does not involve any recovery.

It is based on a unique cooling process that is designed to freeze the fat off, resulting in its gradual elimination from the body. Dr. Q Medical Spa, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Suzanne Quardt, provides CoolSculpting to patients in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and surrounding locations in this area of SoCal.

Post-Treatment Phase

Although no specific downtime is involved in CoolSculpting, the patient should be aware of some mild and temporary side effects that may still take place.

  • Stiffness in the treated areas may occur with temporary skin whitening immediately after the procedure.
  • Some patients may experience nausea or dizziness for a few minutes as the body warms up after the cooling process and sensation returns.
  • As the applicators are taken off, the treated tissue may appear red for some time, which is expected.
  • Minor swelling, tenderness, or bruising may be experienced by a few patients, which will mostly resolve in one to two weeks.
  • Some patients may report a minor cramping, tingling, or stinging sensation for a few hours after the treatment.
  • Temporary dulling of sensation may occur, which could last for a few hours to a few weeks.

These side effects are mostly tolerable, and will not restrict the patient from performing their regular activities. Most patients will be able to go back to their normal routine or join their workplace immediately after CoolSculpting. The patient will have no special restrictions on diet or exercise.

Weeks after CoolSculpting

Following a CoolSculpting treatment session, the early side effects will progressively improve over the first few hours to a few days. But if the patient continues to suffer from redness, swelling or pain beyond two weeks or the condition worsens, they should contact the surgeon’s office.

First Two Weeks

For up to two weeks, mild and transient side effects may linger on. In some cases, these may persist for a little longer. However, most patients will be free of side effects quickly after CoolSculpting. Bruising may last for two to four weeks in some cases. Dulling of sensation in the treated tissue or temporary numbness could last for two to eight weeks.

The patient will start experiencing actual reduction in the thickness of the fat layers in treated areas within the first two weeks. In about three to four months following the CoolSculpting procedure, patients will see noticeable and measurable fat reduction.

From the Third Week

In the third and fourth weeks, some numbness may still remain, but the patient will find their clothes becoming slight loose or fitting more easily. Some smoothness and size reduction in the fat bulges in the treated sites will appear.

Fat reduction will be more conspicuous from the second to fourth months, and a sculpted shape in the treated sites will emerge. By the fourth month, most patients will experience slimmer body contours as desired. The outstanding and poignant Dr. Q Medical Spa receives patients from Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and other suburbs and communities in this region of California for CoolSculpting.
