Skin Tag  and Mole Treatment

Mole / Skin Tag Removal Moles, skin tags, and other minor skin growths may occur in any part of your body. These spots and bumps are usually non-malignant, but can be conspicuous and cause cosmetic concerns. If left untreated, they may also sometimes turn malignant and pose a serious health risk.

Dr. Q Med Spa, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Suzanne Quardt (Dr. Q) provides mole and skin tag removal treatments to patients in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and surrounding locations.

Common Characteristics of Moles and Skin Tags

Moles usually present the following characteristics:

  • They are typically raised, and could be skin-colored or have pigmentation.
  • They may appear in any area of your body, but are more often seen in sun-exposed body parts.
  • Moles occur more frequently in childhood.

Skin tags may present the following primary characteristics:

  • They are tiny and soft growths of loose tissue connected by a narrow base.
  • They are mostly benign, but may sometimes cause discomfort if they are irritated or caught in your clothes.
  • You may have one skin tags or hundreds of them.
  • Skin tags usually occur in areas where the skin friction is high, such as armpits, neck, breast folds, skin creases, and eyelids.

Millions of people develop moles and skin tags each year. It is best to get them removed from a professional treatment provider at a qualified medical spa. The removal procedure is safe, quick, and comfortable.

Planning for Mole and Skin Tag Removal

Your surgeon will first examine your skin condition and the nature of the mole or skin tag before suggesting the appropriate removal procedure. At the time of your initial consultation, your surgeon will explain to you the treatment options, expected results, and whether any aftercare is required. They will create a custom treatment plan based on their evaluation of your moles and skin tags to be removed.

The procedure can be performed at a qualified medical spa, and will not involve any significant downtime. You may not require repeat treatments once the removal is successfully completed. However, new moles and skin tags may appear in different locations in your skin at any point in the future. You should preferably have these growths routinely evaluated by your medical spa skin care expert to know if any changes are occurring.

Removal Procedure

If your surgeon determines that the mole is rooted in the deeper skin tissue, they may use excision method to remove it completely. Once the mole is fully removed, the surgeon will close the minor cut with fine sutures. On the other hand, if the mole is superficial and minor in size, your surgeon may simply shave it off your skin. This will avoid the need for suturing.

Skin tags are usually shaved off from the affected areas. Both mole and skin tag procedure can be performed in-office without any need for general anesthesia or sedation. Sometimes cryotherapy technique may be used to free the skin tags. It involves the use of liquid nitrogen. In any case, you should avoid removing skin tags and moles on your own at home, and always consult with your medical spa professional.

Dr. Q Med Spa receives patients from Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, and nearby areas for mole and skin tag removal.
